Sea Glass

Sea glass is broken, naturally smoothed glass that gains its texture from years of tumbling in the ocean. Each piece is unique in shape, size, and color, and sometimes even comes in rare matching pairs. Unlike shells, sea glass is usually created from broken bottles and glassware that have spent 5 to 50+ years in the ocean. While it can be found worldwide, it’s most common in Hawai’i, California, and Australia, with popular colors including teal-blue, white/clear, green, and brown—and occasionally red, pink, purple, orange, or black.

At Salt & Water Co, we love using sea glass because it’s sustainable and ethical. Collecting it helps clean up the ocean, and it gives new life to discarded items, transforming them into beautiful, one-of-a-kind designs. Sea glass is becoming increasingly rare, making each piece you find or wear even more special. Each piece of sea glass is handpicked by me, either while beachcombing or free-diving along the beaches of O’ahu.
